“Even if I fall on the road of riding, I have to move towards Lhasa”

In high altitude areas, riders should not only overcome altitude sickness, but also quickly adapt to unfamiliar areas. At the same time, they should distribute physical fitness reasonably so as to maintain high fighting spirit and vigorous fighting capacity in continuous competitions.

Xinhua News Agency, Lhasa, October 17 (Reporter Wu Rui, Zhang baoxang, GE sangbian Jue) in October, Linzhi, Tibet was bathed in the blue sky and green sea, more than 300 bicycle riders from all over the country gathered on the Niyang River. The morning of Linzhi was already cool, but excitement and passion burned young souls, and an event held at high altitude was in full swing.

The first cross-Himalayan bicycle extreme race kicked off in Linzhi on the 16th. The riders rode along the 318 national highway Linzhi to Lhasa. The scenery along the line is picturesque. Snow mountains, forests, rivers, shoals, farmland and villages form a beautiful picture of harmonious coexistence between man and nature. The 318 national highway is like a dragon walking through the valley. The winding Niyang River nurtures the Cangshan and emerald sea on both sides. However, the riders had no time to revel in such a picturesque beauty and fought bravely for the first place.

This event is full of challenges. The track has a total course of more than 400 kilometers. The starting point is located in Linzhi, “Jiangnan, Tibet”, and the ending point is located in Lhasa, “Sunshine City”. The transition from an altitude of more than 2700 meters to an altitude of more than 3600 meters, on the way, you have to climb over the Mira pass at an altitude of 5013 meters. The physical fitness and will of the rider are facing unusual severe tests.

Chen Xuebin, a rider from Zunyi, Guizhou, was full of spirit and flew thousands of miles to Linzhi to participate in the competition. This time they had five riders traveling together, all from the folk bicycle riding association. “I never thought about the ranking, as long as I finish the competition safely.” Most riders hold the same idea as Chen Xuebin. Zhao Qin, a post-90s girl from Hubei prickly pear, always had a dream of riding in Tibet. She signed up immediately after seeing the news of the event and got what she wanted.

Some riders have had experience in competitions before. Many people overcome altitude sickness and go to the plateau for training one or two weeks or even one or two months in advance. There are also “Cainiao”, which adds color to the competition with the attitude of active participation. After 90 s, Tibetan girl Canum usually loves riding with friends and has not received professional training, but her face is always smiling. “If I can finish this competition, even if it is one of them, it will be a great breakthrough in my life”.

The competition is extremely fierce. In high altitude areas, riders should not only overcome altitude sickness, but also quickly adapt to unfamiliar areas. At the same time, they should distribute physical fitness reasonably so as to maintain high fighting spirit and vigorous fighting capacity in continuous competitions.

“Even if I fall on the road of riding, I have to go in the direction of Lhasa.” Fan Bin is the person in charge of a bank in the mainland, cycling through the Yunnan-Tibet, Qinghai-Tibet and Sichuan-Tibet routes for many times. “I seem to ride in a dream, which is very dangerous and requires strong self-control and endurance.” He said, “I will definitely not stand on the champion podium, but Tibet Tianlu is a sacred road, and I will constantly come here to challenge myself.”
