Xinhua News Agency, Jakarta, October 4 (reporter Shan Lei, Yu Qianliang) the Chinese delegation participating in the third Asian Games for the Disabled held a flag-raising ceremony in the athletes’ village in Jakarta on the 4th. More than a month after the end of the Jakarta Asian Games, Chinese disabled athletes will soon appear.
On the morning of the 4th, the Chinese team held a flag-raising ceremony with Thailand, Philippines, Oman and other delegations. The organizing committee also arranged a short and wonderful dance with national characteristics. Wang Meimei, the deputy head of the delegation, together with the players of the track and field throwing team, judo team and swimming team, accepted the village gift given by the athlete village. Zhao Sujing, secretary general of the delegation, said: “Our delegation has two main tasks in Indonesia this time. One is to continue to maintain China’s leading position in Asia, show the elegant demeanour of Chinese disabled athletes and convey friendship; the second is to prepare for the Tokyo Paralympic Games in 2020.”
Zou Lihong, a track and field athlete from Shanghai, was the flag bearer of the opening ceremony of the Chinese delegation. She was the gold medalist of the women’s T54 marathon at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games, she also won the bronze medal of 800 meters at the 2012 London Paralympic Games. Zou Lihong said: “The old team members who participated in two Paralympic Games I am, but it was the first time when the flag bearer of the opening ceremony was very excited and proud. This time I will participate in the competition of five projects, and I will try to take it off.”
The Asian Paralympic Games will be held in Jakarta from 6th to 13th, with 18 major events. The Chinese team participated in 15 of them, including archery, track and field, badminton, hard ground grounder, bicycle, Blind Gate Ball, judo, weightlifting, shooting, swimming, table tennis, sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair fencing and wheelchair tennis for the blind.
